Orienteering Queensland
Paradise Lost Orienteers Inc. (PLQ) is the orienteering club for the Gold Coast and nearby. PLQ primarily engages in traditional foot orienteering, but also promotes mountain bike orienteering, rogaining and other navigation-based sports.
PLQ provides the fundamental services of an orienteering club:
PLQ was inactive for many years but was re-energised in 2013 and now runs a full programme of events year-round.
PLQ recently incorporated and has a committee of three:
PLQ runs a programme of low-key Park Orienteering events every few weeks on maps throughout the Gold Coast and nearby.
Almost all of our events have courses suitable for youngsters - please check before bringing the family.
Event fees for our low-key local events are
Junior means younger than 21
Family means 2 adults and any number of cohabiting dependents up to the age of 25
Club member means a current financial member of any orienteering, rogaining or related club
You are welcome to attend our events without joining the Club, but when you are ready to take the next step, go to https://oq.asn.au/membership and nominate PLQ as your club. If you are a first time club member, select one of the Introductory categories for a significant discount. Introductory families are $75, seniors $50, juniors $35; take this membership option after 31st July and your membership is good until the end of next year.
If you are already a member of OQ and you live anywhere south of Beenleigh, please consider nominating PLQ when you resubscribe.
Compasses are available for purchase at events - the Moscow Compass for $72, very good value for money, left and right hand models.
